CHILD WELLNESS COMUNITY FUND'S VEHICLE DONATION PROGRAM
ASSISTS TEEN'S FAMILY WITH SPINA BIFIDA
Carlisle, OH Katherine is an active 14-year-old at Carlisle High School in Warren County. Shes a member of the Community League, a volunteer in her community and likes to play baseball in the summer. Nothing holds her back, including the fact that she is wheelchair bound due to Spina Bifida.

Katherine's parents Roy and Mary were lifting her in and out of their vehicle for transportation, risking injury to Katherine as well as themselves. Her father's poor health often confined Katherine to her home.

Jennifer Finch, service coordinator for Warren County MRDD reached out to the
Second Home program, managed by the Child Wellness Community Fund. Jennifer downloaded the simple "If I Only Had a..." nomination form for Katherine to receive a wheelchair accessible van.

The Second Home program encourages collaboration among nonprofit organizations, medical providers, business leaders and pediatric professionals. The program facilitates Medical Home accessibility through the donation of medical equipment and supplies from individuals, medical providers and suppliers. The advisory committee and ambassadors pledge to help families with special needs children find the resources needed to achieve their wellness potential.

On Wednesday, February 23 at Carlisle High School, the Child Wellness Community Fund presented Katherine's Family with the needed wheel chair accessible van. Fulfilling the requirements of Second Home the small town of Carlisle offered Katherine and her family continuing support. Community support includes: Phil of Phil's Auto Service pledged ongoing maintenance for the vehicle and other local businesses.

But the story doesnt end there. In the interest in giving back to the community Katherine's family donated the vehicle being replaced back to Child Wellness Community Fund's Vehicle Donation program, which produces needed funds for programs like Second Home.

EASTER SEALS GETS MORE THAN PRIME PARKING AT OAKLAND MALL
Troy, MI - The Child Wellness Fair and Community Fund helps the Easter Seals meet a holiday wish by providing a Ford Windstar passenger van. The granted wish was presented at the crowded Oakland Mall with the van having a prime parking space right in the center court next to Santa Claus. Oakland Mall director, Shelly Darmettco shares, The Oakland Mall is proud to provide the opportunity for all of our shoppers to participate in the holiday spirit of supporting the needs of our community.

The Windstar comes through the nation wide Vehicle Donation Program created by the Child Wellness Community Fund. Larry Franzel the Vehicle Donation Program Director had the honor of handing over the keys to Elizabeth Boyce, Easter Seals Vice President.

Elizabeth Boyce said, This is our Christmas Miracle. Easter Seals had been trying to work a vehicle into their budget to support transportation for a children's program as early as one week ago.

CWFs Vehicle Donation program is committed to generating funds as well as vehicles for families and children's services in need. Each car that is received by the Child Wellness Community Fund generates revenue and opportunities that directly support children's programs in the southeast Michigan community.
